Join us for this wonderful opportunity to gather together and recognize Jesus in the midst of life's journey. This event is open to all high school teens.

Monday, February 3 Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller presented the Lumen Gentium Award to Barbara and John Thabet. John has been a catechist and mentor for our Youth Program for many years. For the last 15 years John has led tours to the Holy Land bringing Sacred Scripture alive for hundreds of our parishioners. Barbara was a founder of the Special Needs Faith Formation Program, a first in the Archdiocese of San Antonio. She has been able to foster the sacramental celebration for children and adults who otherwise would not receive their sacraments.

Puttin' On The Ritz

St. Mark the Evangelist Giving Tree will be a little different this year due to COVID-19. We are asking for unwrapped gifts or gift cards for children, and gift cards or donations for CPS gift certificates.

Drop off will be in the breezeway November 28 and December 12 between 10 AM and 2 PM. Additional donations boxes will be located in the church before and after weekend Masses.

The Giving Tree is back!

Join us for caroling, a shower for Mary, and a live nativity Friday, December 11, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM. We will be collecting donations for Guadalupe Home, a transitional home for pregnant and parenting women and babies who find themselves homeless. We will be collecting any new baby items.

To be eligible to apply for a $1,000 scholarship, you must be:
• A high school senior
• Registered at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church
• Planning to attend a certified college, junior college, vocational school or community college in 2021-2022
• Involved in St. Mark the Evangelist and/or other church related activities
This scholarship is based on Merit and Service with emphasis on Church related activities.
Instructions:
1. Each applicant must complete and submit his or her own sealed application packet to the St. Mark Pastoral Office no later than Noon, January 29, 2021. Failure to follow all instructions may result in penalty or disqualification. The following must be included in your application packet:

A. The second page of this document completed and attached as the front of the application packet.
B. A digital photograph or a copy of a standard photograph (head and shoulders at least 2” high) with student’s name printed on the back. This must be a separate item.
C. A current official or unofficial copy of your most recent high school transcript.
D. A 400 (or less) word, computer printed essay, not to exceed 1 page. Evaluation includes MLA (Modern Language Association) writing style as well as content. Applicant cannot receive assistance in writing or proofing the essay. The essay will address one of the following topics:

Celebrate the Rosary and Our Lady for the 103th anniversary of Her miracle of the sun. The Fatima movie now playing in theatres dramatizes our needs, as does the COVID-19 pandemic. This annual St. Mark’s event needs your participation to promote peace in our community and our nation. The Rosary Event takes place at 12 noon on Saturday October 10, next to Bradley Middle School. Last year we joined as one of 24,000 Rosary rallies around the world. Meet at: Noon: Blossom Park, Heimer and Brook Hollow. Social distancing is no problem. Bring chairs for elderly. If Men Knew What Eternity Was, He Would Do Everything to Change Their Lives

The Knights of Columbus will be selling their fried fish plates, fish tacos, and grilled cheese sandwiches every Friday during Lent. Adult portions are $8.00 and children portions are $5.00. Grilled cheese sandwich plates are $3.00. All fish plates include french fries, coleslaw, hushpuppies, drink and dessert.

David Kauffman is a prolific artist, whose works touch and inspire people worldwide. He is the founder and creative director of Good For The Soul Music, based in San Antonio, Texas. Kauffman is a songwriter and recording artist, screenwriter and movie producer, and husband and father whose creations are described as “good for the soul.” Growing up with liturgical music in one ear and pop music in the other, Kauffman has spent three decades on a faith journey that has grown from a personal pursuit to a full-blown mission to create music that touches hearts, feeds souls and influences lives.

All boys and girls ages 9 to 14 are invited to participate in the 2020 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship. (Age as of 1/01/2020) The competition will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. in the St Mark’s gym. Registration and warm-up shooting start at 6:30 p.m. We plan to award twelve new leather basketballs, one basketball for each age category winner. There is no fee to participate.
